Marlea Louise Dykeman was born on July 17, 1938 to Ernest and Vera Eloise (Conger) Dykeman in Schenectady, New York. She attended school in many places in New York due to moving a lot because of her fathers work. She graduated from Colonie Central High School in Colonie, New York in 1956. She enlisted in the United States Air Force on July 29, 1958. She found the love of her life Edward Janowski on the bus ride from Basic training in Texas to the train station to go to Base in Denver, Colorado. It was an instant connection for both and they were married soon after. The marriage lasted 25 years. They remained in touch until his death in 2016.
Marlea was a volunteer to many organizations in Iowa Falls. She loved people and animals. She had numerous “adopted” children. Anyone in need was someone whom she would desire to help and care for. She passed this passion down to all of her children. She did work as a telephone switchboard operator, a bus driver, a secretary, a CNA, but the job she loved the most was being a mom.
She is survived by her children: Edward Janowski Jr. of Naples, Florida; Scott (Cindy) Janowski of Iowa Falls, Iowa; Marlea V. Karns of Eton, Colorado; Elizabeth (Jon) Korth of Dows, Iowa; Sandra (Tony) Germdom- Stewart of Knoxville, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and many cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and the love of her life Edward Janowski, and two miscarried children.
