George A. Case passed away on March 15, 2024 at 85 years old in Clear Lake, Iowa, with his loving wife, Edith by his side. Mr. Case will be laid to rest in Clear Lake, Iowa.

George A. Case – Mr. Case passed away on March 15, 2024 at 85 years old in Clear Lake, Iowa, with his loving wife, Edith by his side. He was born on Dec.19, 1938 & was raised in Hubbard, Iowa by his loving parents, Derald & Margaret Case. He graduated from high school in 1956, before attending junior colleges in Central Iowa. He enlisted in the US Army in 1958 & spent most of the next four years as a Signal Corps photographer assigned near Stuttgart, Germany.

In the fall of 1958 he met the love of his life, the former Edith Loeb of Niederbronn Les Bains, France. He saw her walking across the dance floor at that little Astoria Bar in Germany & he knew the moment he saw her that his single days were over. They were married in Germany on April 21, 1961. To this union came their two remarkable daughters, Joele & Sydni.

Upon leaving the service in 1962, he returned to college in Kearney Nebraska, graduating in 1965 with a Bachelor’s degree in Education.

Mr. Case was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S Air Force, graduating from Office Training School in August 1965. During his Air Force career he was assigned duties in Education & Training, Minuteman Missile Launch Control, USAF Recruiting, USAF Postal & Courier, as well as several Administrative positions, including Headquarters Squadron Commander for the Third Combat Communications Group. He has served in California, Texas, Oklahoma, England & Thailand.

Mr. Case pursued a graduate degree while assigned to Bergstrom AFB, Texas, & received a Masters in Psychology, Guidance & Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado in 1978. Subsequent to his retirement from the Active forces in 1981, he again entered graduate school at Southwest Texas University in San Marcos, Texas, & received a Masters in Education-School Psychology in 1985.

While in the civilian employment sector Mr. Case has been employed in public schools, real estate, adult probation & management.

He rejoined the Air Force team in 1988, as a Program Counselor for Tactical Air Command’s Family Support Center at Bergstrom AFB, Texas. While at Bergstrom, Mr. Case worked in the areas of Special Needs, Military Transition, Parenting Skills, Self Assessment, Family Relocation & Counseling. Mr. Cases Military history totaled 20+ years of active duty in the Army & Air Force as well as civilian service in the Air Force & Navy, which he has honorably carried close to his heart.

As Director of Programs at Hellenikon, Mr. Case was present for the start-up of that Family Support Center. He was involved in all aspects of opening the center. The majority of his work in Greece was with Parenting Skills, Spouse Employment & establishing staff resource & reference materials.

In 1994, Mr. Case & his family returned to Hubbard, Iowa. He worked as a counselor & residential advisor assisting in operating halfway houses in the state of Iowa. Five years prior to his retirement Mr. Case & Edi still had a little kid left in them and they shared in the endeavor of owning & operating the Bierstein Bar & Grill. In 2004, he finally embraced retirement & transitioned to Clear Lake, Iowa. He enjoyed the lake life, living closer to his daughter Joele, selling onions for the Shriners, supporting the Clear Lake Lions Club & coffee time with his buddies at McDonalds.

Mr. Case will be laid to rest in Clear Lake, Iowa. Those who have gone before him but always in his heart, his parents, daughter Sydni Brooks & granddaughter, Kelsey McGahan.

Survivors here to cherish his memory are his beautiful wife, Edith Case, daughter, Joele Case, Granddaughter, Claire & Jimmie Gonzales, & many nieces, nephews & extended family.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to One Vision.

At Mr. Case’s request, a columbarium gathering will be on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Clear Lake Municipal Cemetery in Clear Lake, Iowa. A gathering will be followed at the Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel in Clear Lake, Iowa.
