Iowa man avoids prison after indecent contact with a child

SIOUX CENTER - An Iowa man police found to have had indecent contact with a child at his home will avoid prison for his crime, authorities announced.

SIOUX CENTER – An Iowa man police found to have had indecent contact with a child at his home will avoid prison for his crime, authorities announced.

Thomas Kunstle, as Sioux County Attorney for Sioux County, Iowa announced that Donald Lee Kirkbride (pictured above), 49, of Sioux Center, Iowa, was sentenced February 16, 2024 in Sioux County District Associate Court for the crime of Indecent Contact With A Child, an Aggravated Misdemeanor. Sioux County Attorney Thomas Kunstle prosecuted the case on behalf of the State of Iowa.

This case arose on September 21, 2023, when Kirkbride was observed by a third-party, having inappropriate contact with a juvenile at his residence. The contact occurred over the juvenile’s clothing. The crime wasn’t reported to authorities until September 29, when Sioux Center Police conducted their investigation. Within that investigation Kirkbride admitted to having some inappropriate contact with the victim.

On February 15, 2024, Kirkbride pled guilty to Indecent Contact With a Child, and was ordered to serve 365 days in the Sioux County Jail which was all suspended. Kirkbride was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of 10 years. Kirkbride was further ordered to pay criminal fines, must be supervised by a specialized sex offender probation officer for a period of 10 years, submit a sample of his DNA to a state database, have no contact with the victim, and obtain a psychosexual evaluation successfully complying with any recommendations.
