Two Minnesotans die in head-crash in Floyd county

FLOYD - Two Minnesotans were killed when a Minneapolis woman's Jeep crossed a highway center line and struck a Toyota Prius.

FLOYD – Two Minnesotans were killed when a Minneapolis woman’s Jeep crossed a highway center line and struck a Toyota Prius.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place on Sunday July 2, 2023. At about 3:50 PM that afternoon, a Jeep Cherokee driven by 37-year-old Jenna Stangland of Minneapolis crossed the centerline on Highway 18 at the 209 mile marker. The Jeep collided head-on with a Toyota Prius driven by 74-year-old Steven York of Waconia.

As a result of the collision, Steven York was killed. Also killed was a passenger in his vehicle, 16-year-old Keira Duffy of Golden Valley, Minnesota. Another passenger, Mary York of Waconia, Minnesota, was transported by Mercy One AirMed to to Mercy One Hospital in Mason City for treatment of injuries.

Jenna Stangland also sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Mercy One Hospital in Mason City for treatment.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Floyd Fire Department, Collwell Fire Department, Charles City AMR and Mercyone Air Med.
