CORALVILLE – An Iowa man who sexually assaulted a child died in prison.
Vincent Duncan was pronounced dead due to natural causes at 1:10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 in a hospice room of the Iowa Medical and Classification Center. Duncan was 75 years old at the time of his death.
Duncan had been serving a 25-year sentence for the crime of Sex Abuse-2nd Degree from Tama County. His sentence began on January 3, 2014. Court documents say that “The State accused Duncan of putting his penis in a child’s mouth. Any expert or lay evidence about Duncan’s inability to have an erection would not have made the facts of the crime more or less probable.Duncan waived a jury trial. After a bench trial, the fact finder wrote a detailed and thoughtful ruling, foundthe complaining witness’s testimony credible, found Duncan’s testimony “inconsistent with that of other witnesses and even himself,” and determined Duncan “performed a sex act with [the child] by placing his penis into her mouth.”
