FAYETTE COUNTY – A rural Northern Iowa man took his gun to confront hunters and now he’s confronted with steel bars and felony charges.
On September 19, 2020, at approximately 5:20 PM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a 911 call of two individuals hunting near the 24000 Block of Rose Road when a third individual pulled up in a vehicle with a firearm and made threatening comments towards the victims. Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted multiple interviews. Upon completion of the investigation, Thomas Edward Heyer, age 61 of West Union, Iowa, was arrested and charged with Going Armed with Intent, a Class D Felony; 2 counts of Assault with a dangerous Weapon, and 2 counts of Harassment 1st Degree, all Aggravated Misdemeanors.
Heyer was taken into custody without incident, and transported to Fayette County Jail, where he awaited initial appearance.

Guns don’t solve problems. A cool head and making an effort to actually solve the problem don’t come from threatening others with a gun.
I am not against law-abiding citizens from having guns, But I ask- does threatening someone with a gun (or any other weapon) mean that you a law-abiding citizen?
You are correct, then, with all the crazy stuff out there and the “limited” news information given, arrested, yet not gone to court….
How the news would read if , 61 year old man found dead from gunshot, no witness to be found?
again, courts have to figure what happened and if the man is guilty, sentence him to the letter of the law
“if the man is guilty, sentence him to the letter of the law”
Just like the peaceful protesters picked up while rioting. Let out, not charged. Doesn’t matter they were burning, looting, smashing things. Doesn’t matter they were throwing explosives (commercial grade fireworks with “shrapnel” taped to them), throwing rocks, shooting, stabbing, or just beating.
