DES MOINES – Gov. Kim Reynolds released the following statement following her visit with Vice President Mike Pence:
“As trade discussions continue, I again took the opportunity to speak with Vice President Mike Pence about the importance of free trade and open markets, which are essential to our state’s economy,” Gov. Reynolds said. “Two things are equally true: no one wins in a trade war and China is a bad actor that must be held accountable. I will continue to be an advocate on behalf of Iowa farmers.”
As lt. governor and now as governor, Kim Reynolds has led trade missions across the globe promoting Iowa’s products, defended free and fair trade in Washington and successfully fought to preserve the Renewable Fuel Standard.
Throughout the year, Gov. Reynolds has met with President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and key administration officials to reiterate the importance of free trade and open markets.
Just this week, Gov. Reynolds attended a roundtable at the Iowa State Fair with Environmental Protection Agency Acting Administrator Andrew Wheeler. The conversation was productive, and the governor will continue to advocate for year-round E-15. In a press conference afterward, Acting Administrator Wheeler explained that Gov. Reynolds was the first governor he called after assuming his new role.
