MASON CITY – A Mason City woman was busted with drugs by law enforcement just weeks after a guilty plea in a felony case in Mitchell county.
A Cerro Gordo county deputy conducted a traffic stop near 23rd Street SW and Mckinley Avenue on the evening of February 2 and three people were arrested as a result.
The driver, Joshua Allen Bendickson of Mason City, was arrested for driving while barred. One passenger, Judy Ann Griswold of Nora Springs, was arrested for unlawful prescription drug, and also cited for allowing an unauthorized person to drive.
A second passenger, 22-year-old Briana Sue Bakkum of Mason City, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) and drug paraphernalia.
The vehicle was impounded.
Al three were taken to jail, booked and later released.
Last April, Bakkum was charged with felony conspiracy in Mitchell county by Osage police. Despite a criminal record, judge Peter Newell granted Bakkum a deferred judgement. She was ordered to pay $1,739.83 in fines and court fees.
