MASON CITY – NIACC’s Boy Van Vliet signed a national letter of intent with Dallas Baptist University.
Dallas Baptist is a NJCAA Division II school that plays in the Heartland Conference.
“I’m looking forward to becoming part of a great Divison II basketball program,” Van Vliet said. “They have some good pieces coming back and they have a good shot at making nationals.”
Van Vliet, who is from the Netherlands, averaged 19.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game as a sophomore with 71 3-point goals. Van Vliet was a first-team all-NJCAA Region XI selection.
Van Vliet is tied for 24th on NIACC’s career scoring list with 816 points and ranks 11th on the career 3-point list with 100.
Van Vliet said his time at NIACC was time well spent.
“I like this place,” Van Vliet said. “It’s been a great two years. It was a good stepping stone.”
