FOREST CITY – Waldorf College’s Faculty Writers Series welcomes Kyle Torke on Monday, February 3. Torke, a Visiting Associate Professor at Waldorf College, will be speaking to creative writing classes on Waldorf campus, as well as reciting his own work at a public reading.

In Monday’s reading, Torke will read his nonfiction essay, Sunshine Falls, narrating the whitewater rafting trip that nearly killed him.

“I often take a singular experience and then explore the many tangents, incongruities, and sparks of energy that connect to and fly off that one moment,” Torke said on his writing inspiration.

Torke’s collection of short stories, creative non-fiction stories, screenplays and poetry pieces have been published in several literary journals and books. Family, nature, and rites of passage are common themes found amongst Torke’s writing.

Torke’s reading will take place at 7 p.m. in Waldorf College’s Luise V. Hanson Library Lounge on Monday, February 3. The public is invited to this free event. Torke’s Sunshine Falls and Tanning Season will be available for purchase at the event.
