Jaws of life used to free couple from car wreck near Ventura

ambulanceRURAL CERRO GORDO COUNTY – A man and a woman were trapped in a car after it rolled on a slippery road outside Ventura Saturday afternoon.

According to the Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s office, Saturday afternoon around 4:03 PM, deputies investigated a single vehicle rollover near the intersection of Balsam Ave and 280th Street north of Ventura. At the scene, a man and woman were trapped in an upside-down vehicle.

Investigation at the scene determined that the driver of the vehicle was 24-year-old Jarod Knudtson from Forest City and the passenger was 25-year-old Kaitlyn Anderson from Owatonna, Minnesota.

Mr. Knudtson was driving his Red 1997 Pontiac Grand AM northbound when he lost control due to the slippery road conditions and entered the west ditch. His vehicle landed on it’s top and the jaws of life were used to extracate both individuals. Mr. Knudtson was transported to Mercy ER by family members on scene and Ms. Anderson was transpoerted Mercy ER by Garner ambulance. Extent of injuries is unknown. Further investigation continues.
