CLEAR LAKE – Emergency responders were called to a two-car accident Tuesday afternoon near Clear Lake in which the drivers both complained of injuries.

On April 23, 2024, at 3:53 PM, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle collision involving injuries at the county intersection of 255th Street and Jonquil Avenue. The sheriff’s office says 58-year-old Tina Collins of Mason City was eastbound on 255th Street driving a 2021 Nissan Rogue, and 38-year-old Bendjy Joseph of Mason City was northbound on Jonquil Avenue. Joseph was stopped at the stop sign, then pulled out into the intersection and was struck by Collins. As a result of the accident, emergency responders arrived on scene and discovered that both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and both vehicles sustained severe damage. However, both drivers complained of minor injuries, but refused medical treatment at the scene.

Bendjy Joseph was cited for failure to obey traffic control device.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Clear Lake Fire and Police Departments.
