NIACC softball team ranked 14th in NJCAA Division II poll

niacc_trojans_logoMASON CITY – The NIACC softball team is ranked No. 14 in the latest NJCAA Division II poll.

The last time the NIACC softball team was ranked was in the 1994 season when the Lady Trojans were ranked 14th at one point in the season. The 1994 Lady Trojans finished the season 38-10 and were the regular season ICCAC champions.

NIACC (7-3) returns to action Monday against Valley State University in Tucson, Ariz.

Sophomore Allison Scott is hitting .515 with five doubles and 18 RBIs. Freshman Kendall Cornick is hitting .677 with 21 stolen bases.
Also for the Lady Trojans, sophomore Katie LaBuda is hitting .500 with 10 RBIs and Tricia Notermann is hitting .481 with five doubles.

Sophomore Becca Huberty is 3-1 with 12 strikeouts and nine walks and sophomore Lexy Pederson is 1-0 with two saves with 13 strikeouts and four walks.

Kirkwood is ranked third, DMACC is ranked eighth and Iowa Central is ranked 13th.
