MASON CITY – A man was booked into the Cerro Gordo county jail for drunk driving for the second time since December, and fourth time overall.
Jerry Richard Riles, age 28 address unknown, was booked into the Cerro GOrdo county jail Friday night, February 12 at about 11:11 PM. He had been stopped and arrested by the Iowa State Patrol and charged with operating while intoxicated and driving while revoked (due to a previous drunk driving charge). Allegedly, Riles came to the jail with illegal narcotics in his possession and was charged with possess and convey contraband in a jail. He was soon released from the jail.
Riles is familiar with the Cerro Gordo county jail. He had been arrested by the Iowa State Patrol back on December 19 for second offense operating while intoxicated. He had posted $2,000 surety bond two days later and was released from jail. He also hired local attorney Joseph LaPointe. Just last week, Riles pleaded not guilty and was set for a jury trial in April.
Riles has been arrested two other times for drunk driving in Iowa: In Franklin county in 2005 and Linn county back in 2009.
