Northwood man guilty of second drunk driving offense

MASON CITY – A Northwood mn has pled guilty to his second drunk driving charge and is now serving his jail sentence.

Damian Scott Lapoint, age 22, faced a charge of second offense operating while intoxicated after his arrest on March 14 by Mason City police. He was also charged with no insurance, driving with suspended license (due to his previous drunk driving conviction), failure to stop at a stop sign and open container of alcohol. After he skipped an arrangement hearing, Lapoint later entered a guilt plea and was sentenced to 7 days in jail and ordered to pay $2,758.25 in fines and court fees.

Lapoint was last arrested for drunk driving in August of 2014, also in Cerro Gordo county. He was sent to jail for 2 days, had his license taken away and ordered to pay $2,246.88 in fines and court fees. Records show he has so far failed to make a payment on that balance.

Earlier this year, Lapoint was given a deferred judgement in a felony conspiracy case and placed on probation for 3 years. He was ordered to pay $3,876.84 in court costs and restitution.

Prison time would be the best bet for this turd before he kills someone. Let BUBBA play with him for a few years.

This guys owes over $8800 in fines, do you think he will ever pay them?
