MASON CITY – A Clear Lake man wanted on several charges related to the sexual abuse of a young child was picked up in Charles City and taken to jail in Mason City.
Daniel J. Wigant, age 24 of Clear Lake, had four serious charges brought against him last week by Clear Lake police: Two counts of lascivious acts with a child and two counts of second degree sexual abuse. Wigant is accused of sexual contact with a female victim under the age of 11 (age 4) on two occasions in July of this year in Clear Lake.
An arrest warrant was issued for Wigant on August 6, 2015, a day after Clear Lake police brought the charges. He was found and arrested on August 7 by Charles City police, who transported him to Cerro Gordo county. A judge placed a $70,000 cash-only bond as a condition of Wigan’s release from jail, and he remains held until a hearing on August 14.

@Allen-They should just shoot a P.O.S. like this and be done with him. We will spend thousands of dollars prosecuting him and then some milksop judge will give him probation so he can ruin some other childs life.
I don’t see any deformity other than stupid written across his face. He has had two girlfriends within the past year, both I assume have kids. I’m pretty sure he has kids of his own! Will he be put on the sex offenders list for this? Sexual abuse is one of the worse crimes out there. I can personally tell you that from a victims stand point. I was lucky enough to be an adult when it happened to me, I can only imagine the impact it will have on those kids.. 🙁 Prayers for the victims and for justice. This loser shouldn’t be given an ounce of sympathy.
Hopefully, they get it to stick. Clear Lake PD has a pretty high conviction rate. And, yes, he and his wife (who aren’t together) do have kids of their own but not custody of them.
I feel sorry for him. He has a deformity of the face and it undoubtedly affects his ability to interact normally with females his own age. This is a medical issue. I hope authorities can get him help versus prison.
