MASON CITY – A Clear Lake man wanted on several charges related to the sexual abuse of a young child was picked up in Charles City and taken to jail in Mason City.
Daniel J. Wigant, age 24 of Clear Lake, had four serious charges brought against him last week by Clear Lake police: Two counts of lascivious acts with a child and two counts of second degree sexual abuse. Wigant is accused of sexual contact with a female victim under the age of 11 (age 4) on two occasions in July of this year in Clear Lake.
An arrest warrant was issued for Wigant on August 6, 2015, a day after Clear Lake police brought the charges. He was found and arrested on August 7 by Charles City police, who transported him to Cerro Gordo county. A judge placed a $70,000 cash-only bond as a condition of Wigan’s release from jail, and he remains held until a hearing on August 14.
