ANITA, IOWA – A Nebraska man with a violent criminal record was jailed after law enforcement responded to a commotion outside an Iowa bar.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office in Atlantic said today that on July 16, 2015, at approximately 12:58 AM, the deputies responded to a reported stabbing and discharge of a firearm outside of Huffy’s Bar in Anita, Iowa. Upon investigation, no stabbing was found to have occurred. However, a firearm was fired outside the bar.
After an investigation, Erich S. Johnson, 31, of West Point, NE, was subsequently charged with Possession and Control of Firearms with a Domestic Assault Conviction (D felony), Carrying Weapons (aggravated misdemeanor), and Reckless Use of a Firearm (simple misdemeanor). Johnson was taken to the Cass County Jail where he remains held on $5,000 bond.
The Adair County Sheriff’s Office assisted Cass County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation.
