MASON CITY – A fight between a man and a woman landed both in jail this past weekend.
Mason City police officers responded to a dispute at 814 North Federal Avenue Saturday evening, April 18. After an investigation, Raymond James Quinones, age 43, was arrested on a felony charge of domestic abuse assault involving strangulation. He was taken to the county jail, processed and released. A no-contact order between Quinones and his alleged victim was put in place by a judge.
The alleged victim in the case was also arrested. Donyale Maria Jones, age 26, was arrested on a warrant for Failure to Appear for Fingerprinting on a 5th Degree Theft Charge, police told NIT. She was taken to the county jail, processed and released.
Police said the incident was verified and the landlord, JoAnn Hardy, was contacted. “It is part of our nuisance property process,” said Chief of Police Michael Lashbrook. He confirmed that the call to the landlord serves as a warning to the property owner, and they could be fined if police have to come back for another verified police visit.
