cited-police-featured1CHARLES CITY – After being cited in a neighboring county for driving on the wrong side of a highway, a Charles City man went home and crashed his car into a tree and was taken to a hospital.

According to Charles City police, officers were called to investigate a one-vehicle accident on April 6 at 10:35 PM at the 700 block of 1st Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered that 24-year-old Matthew Carmody has been traveling westbound in his 2003 Dodge Neon when he crashed into a tree on the south side of the road. Carmody was transported to the Floyd County Medical Center to be evaluated. There was $4,000 of damage to his vehicle, and he was later cited for no insurance.

Earlier that day, court records show that Carmody had been pulled over by law enforcement in neighboring Mitchell county. He was cited for no insurance and driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway.
