Nine persons set to become new Iowa State Patrol troopers

JOHNSTON, IOWA – The Iowa Department of Public Safety announced today the graduation of nine recruits from the Iowa Department of Public Safety’s 39th Basic Academy.

These nine recruits will be sworn in as peace officers for the State of Iowa during the commencement ceremony at 10:00AM, Friday, April 10, 2015, at the Iowa Army National Guard Freedom Center at Camp Dodge.

Once sworn-in, these recruits will serve the State as Troopers with the Iowa State Patrol.

For the past 21 weeks, these recruits have completed courses on laws of arrest, search and seizures, defensive tactics, arrest techniques, precision driving, firearms, emergency management services, criminal law, human relations, physical fitness and motor vehicle law, along with many other courses.

With the creation and growth of traffic cameras, why are we hiring more and more patrol? With the revenue cameras, we should need less?

@sad-Good points. They will try to tell you they are understaffed due to budget cuts during the recession. Having more troopers brings in a lot of extra money. Nothing but a revenue source for the state.
