UNI’s Seth Tuttle named conference player of the week

CEDAR FALLS – University of Northern Iowa senior forward Seth Tuttle has been named the Missouri Valley Conference’s men’s basketball player of the week. It marks the fourth time in Tuttle’s career that he has earned the league’s top weekly honor.

Tuttle (Sheffield, Iowa/West Fork HS) earned MVP honors at the 2014 Cancun Challenge after leading UNI to the title with victories over Virginia Tech and Northwestern. Tuttle also led the Panthers to a 55-50 win over Richmond on Sunday to wrap up a 3-0 week.

Tuttle averaged 15.7 ppg, 6.0 rpg and shot 55.2 percent from the field and 75.0 percent from the foul line over the three-game week.

Tuttle scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds while handing out three assists in a 73-54 win over Virginia Tech in Cancun. Tuttle then went 7-of-11 from the field and scored a game-high 19 points in a 61-42 victory over Northwestern. Tuttle put a capper on the week with his 17th career double-double (17 pts, 10 rbs.) in a 55-50 home win over Richmond.

The Sheffield, Iowa, native has scored in double figures in all seven games this season. Tuttle has scored in double figures in 24 consecutive games. He has scored in double figures in 66 career games for the Panthers.

The Panthers (7-0 overall) will be in action again on Sat., Dec. 6, at home in the McLeod Center against the George Mason Patriots. Tip is set for 7 p.m.
