MASON CITY – Mason City police were called to a collision involving a motorist and a power pole Saturday afternoon.
The incident occurred at about 2:37 PM at the 1900 block of 4th SW, near the former Kmart store. A vehicle driven by an elderly male who had blacked out struck a power pole and knocked it down.
Traffic was blocked for at least an hour as authorities worked to clear the pole and wires safely.
