IOWA CITY — In a defensive masterclass fueled by a record-breaking crowd, the No. 13 Iowa Hawkeyes surged past the No. 6 Michigan Wolverines on Sunday afternoon, securing a commanding 62-44 victory inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The win not only moves the Hawkeyes to 22-5 (13-3) on the season but also serves as a powerful statement against one of the nation’s top programs.
The atmosphere was electric as the Hawkeyes celebrated their 50th consecutive sellout, currently the longest active streak in the nation. Iowa capitalized on that energy, holding Michigan to a season-low in points and their seventh-lowest total since 2009.
Heiden and Stuelke Power the Paint: The Hawkeyes dominated the physical battle, outscoring the Wolverines 40-22 in the paint and forcing 24 Michigan turnovers. The effort was led by a pair of dominant performances:

- Ava Heiden was unstoppable, recording her eighth career double-double with 24 points, 10 rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.
- Heiden has now reached double figures in 15 straight games and has scored 20+ points a team-best 10 times this season.
- Hannah Stuelke delivered a versatile performance, notching 12 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, and two steals.
- This marked Stuelke’s 19th career double-double and her eighth of the season.
Stremlow’s “Starter Spark” Continues: Taylor Stremlow continues to be a lucky charm—and a sharpshooter—for the Hawkeyes. Making her third consecutive start, Stremlow contributed six points, three assists, and three steals.
Iowa is now a perfect 11-0 this season when Stremlow is in the starting lineup.
Over her last three games, she has been lethal from deep, shooting 10-of-16 from 3-point range.
Supporting efforts from Kylie Feuerbach (8 points) and Journey Houston (4 points, 5 rebounds) helped round out the balanced Hawkeye attack.
Jensen Nears Coaching Milestone: This victory marks the second-highest ranked win of Coach Jan Jensen’s tenure and brings her to the brink of history. With 45 wins in her first two seasons, Jensen is just one victory away from surpassing Angie Lee for the most wins by an Iowa women’s basketball coach in their first two years.
The Hawkeyes have now won six straight games against Michigan and improved to 7-2 at home against ranked opponents under Jensen.
The Hawkeyes will look to keep the momentum—and the record books—rolling as they host Illinois on Thursday, Feb. 26, at 8 p.m. (CT). The game will be broadcast on BTN and the Hawkeye Radio Network.
