MASON CITY – A dispute between acquaintances over money has led to a felony burglary charge against a Mason City man.
Mason City police went to 27 Winnebago Way on the morning of September 6 to talk to a man about a person he knows entering his home while he was gone and stealing a small amount of money from him the day before, on September 5.
After an investigation, police determined there was probable cause to file a charge of felony D third degree burglary against 41-year-old Richard Dean Winkowitsch.
Police located Winkowitsch and placed him under arrest. He was jailed and later released on September 8 as he awaits a September 26 hearing.
Winkowitsch is a convicted felon. He was accused in 2005 by Hampton police of felony D third degree felony and was found guilty in 2007. After a number of probation violations in that case, he was sent to prison in 2008.
