MASON CITY – A man showing an address from the St. Louis area helped himself to a little too much Friday night at a Mason City adult novelty store.
Cerro Gordo deputies were called to Pure Pleasures, 10480 265th Street in rural Mason City, Friday night at about 10:24 PM on a report of a shoplifter. After an investigation, police determined that 19-year-old Lavonte Ladelle Lane had attempted to steal from the store. Lane, from Centreville, Illinois, was placed under arrest and charged with fifth degree theft.
Lane was still in jail as of Saturday evening, held on $300 bond.

I could insert the obvious “what has society come to” comment,but I’m going to take it a bit further. Stealing can be done from compulsion,thrill,need,or spite. As this was a pleasure shop,I’m ruling out ‘need'(unless his balls are so blue Avatar 2 wants to hire him). It may have been spite: sending a broader message against society or even a political message against the sex industry,or it could have been simply thrill,or even compulsion. I’m guessing it was a combination of all 4.
