MASON CITY – A Mason City man is in jail after leading an officer in a vehicle pursuit early Monday morning.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Monday, May 5, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle at Highway 122 and Crescent Drive. The driver refused to stop and turned off the highway at South Polk Avenue. The pursuit was less than one mile in distance and lasted for two and a half minutes. The driver of the vehicle, Kenneth Charles Filbrandt, age 30, stopped the car in the 1200 block of 9th SW and fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit Filbrandt was apprehended by officers.

Filbrandt already had three arrest warrants outstanding: Interference with official acts and two counts of driving while barred. He was additionally charged with eluding, driving while barred, possession of drug paraphernalia and other traffic charges.

Two female passengers in the vehicle were released without charges.

  1. “Look at me, I’m so cool” This seems to be an everyday occurrence in Mason City. River City just ain’t what it used to be. I think that we should get a platoon of ninjas to do nightly patrols in every ward of this town. If they see things like this happening, they should catch them and beat the shit out of them, tell them to leave town and never come back. I’d be glad to do it, but I’m not fast enough or tough enough any more.
