MASON CITY – Painter, fiber and mixed media artist, Sioux Lawton, will be featured in a solo exhibition that opened on Friday, March 14. Sioux Lawton: Odd Notions; Uncommon Threads will be on display in the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum’s Kinney-Lindstrom Gallery through Saturday, June 14.

Lawton, who lives in Garner, IA, has a B.F.A. from the University of Iowa, concentrating in printmaking. She did not stick solely to printmaking, however. Lawton says about her work: “I like variety, from beading to fiber collage wall pieces; mixed media to oil painting to work on paper.” Sioux Lawton: Odd Notions; Uncommon Threads features paintings, drawings, fiber collage, fiber wall hangings, mixed media displays, and more. Discover the rich variety of media in this solo exhibition.

Sioux Lawton has exhibited at the Clear Lake Art Center in Clear Lake, IA, the Quad Cities Art Gallery in Rock Island, IL and has been participating in the Iowa Crafts Exhibition at the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum since 1985.
