GARNER – A convicted sex offender who authorities said had posed “a significant risk to the personal safety of members of the community” beat charges of burglary and domestic assault at trial this week.
Randall Lee Lamoreux, age 47, was charged with felony B first degree burglary and domestic abuse assault on August 31, 2013 in Hancock County. Lamoreux had posted bond on these charges and was released from jail, only to be sought by authorities beginning on October 16th later due to Lamoreux’s pre-trial actions which were deemed dangerous. He was later caught in November.
At trial on December 9th, a Hancock county jury acquitted Randall Lee Lamoreux of the domestic assault charge. The jury also found Lamoreux guilty of trespassing causing injury or damage greater than $200 instead of convicting him on the felony B first degree burglary charge.
Lamoreux was sentenced to 1 year in jail – with all but 60 days suspended – and given 1 year of probation with $1070.25 in court costs, fines and charges.
