CLEAR LAKE – Bids for a major capitol improvements project in Clear Lake that would include construction of sidewalks, sewers and intersections along South 20th Street came in well under budget.

The project is one of Clear Lake’s major capitol improvement projects for fiscal year 2013-2014. The city budgeted $420,000 for the project and the city engineer estimated the cost at about $367,000.  Four bids were received.  The best bid was by Yohn Company at a cost of $279,922.75, about 24% below the engineer’s estimate.

The project is being funded by a combination of general city revenues, including road use tax; water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer funds; and special assessments to be levied against the benefited properties.  Substantial completion of the project is required by August 16th.
