Kids get mean on bus ride home, cited by MCPD

MASON CITY – According to public records, 5 kids between the ages of 9 and 14 were cited by Mason City police on January 18th after they became belligerent while riding a bus home from Four Oaks, a non-profit child welfare, juvenile justice, and behavioral health agency.  It is located at 980 South Iowa Avenue in Mason City.

Mason City police said that Four Oaks Staff called police and made a report on January 18th. “The incident occurred January 16th on the transport bus to the kids’ residences from Four Oaks,” said Captain Mike McKelvey. “Five kids on the bus were identified as being verbally disorderly and/or physically threatening towards staff. The 5 juveniles were charged with Disorderly Conduct and their parents notified.”

The names of the juveniles were posted on public record briefly, but are being withheld by NorthIowaToday.com. The ages and hometowns of the children are 9 (Clear Lake), 10 (Clear Lake), 11 (Mason City), 13 (Charles City) and 14 (Mason City).
