MASON CITY – The Mason City Youth Center helped honor the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School with a Candle Light Vigil Tuesday night.

Guest speakers were Father Gehling, Senator Amanda Ragan, Representative Sharon Steckman, Todd Godfrey and Amazing Grace was sung by Marilyn Brown.

“How could this happen? Why did this happen? What can we do to prevent this from repeating,” asked Ragan. “The answer to our most basic questions will probably be a long time in coming.”

“Those children are our greatest treasure. We cannot let them die in vain. We need to learn from the events at Sandy Hook and prevent this from happening again,” said Steckman.

Twenty-six balloons were released with names spoken for each of the victims by Lincoln School Teacher, Todd Godfrey. Included were the twenty children, the mother of the gunman, the three teachers, the Psychologist and the Principal. (All names are said and printed in the video)

“Let the little children come to me, JESUS said. Do not hinder them for such belongs the kingdom of GOD! Thoughts and Prayers will always be with you. God Bless!

Remember the victims. Share your dreams, treasure your blessings, yesterday is gone, tomorrow is not promised, live for today and be the best that you can be-by Regan Banks.

The ceremony ended with the Lee Greenwood song, “God Bless the USA”.
