Two Vehicle Accident on Thrush Avenue, with injury

At approximately 11:00 am Tuesday, there was a report of a two vehicle accident on Thrush Avenue and 150th Street with injury and a small child involved. Mason City emergency Units and the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Rockwell Emergency crews.

There were four generations of one family in the SUV, driven by Michelle Bell. Great Grandma, 93 years old, was taken by ambulance to the Mason City Hospital for chest pains. Mrs. Bell’s daughter-in-law and grandson, 8 months old, were also in the truck.

Michelle’s husband was at the scene, “It scared the shit out of me when I heard. I just lost my mother a couple days ago. I couldn’t stand to lose another one.” He went on to explain that the car was south bound on Thrush Ave. and didn’t stop at the stop sign. “Michelle slowed down, but couldn’t stop in time and hit the car straight on, spinning it around. The baby is in the ambulance getting checked out, but I believe he is okay.”

The driver of the car came back with a friend and when asked if she was okay said, “I’m okay, I didn’t get hurt.” She looked like she was still skaken up a bit.

Katz Towing was called to the accident and was picking up the SUV. They were still waiting for another tow truck to come get the car.
