First Ward Councilman Jeff Marsters wants to see the city take action on guns in playground areas in Mason City. Marsters wrote the following in an email over the weekend:
“While at Prairie Playground today walked in a male & female packing huge pistols. Everyone in the playground including myself felt extremely uncomfortable.
Although legal with a permit, absolutely inappropriate.
The state needs to work to limit locations where inappropriate – in my opinion to include pubic parks, play grounds, pools and etc.
I’m hoping the city can have an ordinance until the State of Iowa takes action.”
