MILFORD – A Northern Iowa manufacturing company is planning a major expansion in Milford, bringing new investment and dozens of decent-paying jobs to the region.

Rosenboom Machine & Tool, Inc. plans to acquire and build out a new facility in Milford as part of a $19.07 million capital investment. The project is expected to create 78 jobs, with the incented jobs carrying a qualifying wage of $25.54 per hour.

The Iowa Economic Development Authority Board approved $1,354,875 in tax credits for the project through the state’s Business Incentives for Growth program, known as BIG.

Rosenboom Machine & Tool is an Iowa-based advanced manufacturer that makes engineered hydraulic cylinders and precision-machined components. Its products serve original equipment manufacturers in several major industries, including construction, agriculture, military, energy, transportation and industrial markets.

The Milford expansion is expected to include building improvements, relocation and installation of advanced machining equipment, material-handling systems and warehousing infrastructure.

The project was one of five manufacturing projects approved for incentives by the IEDA Board. Together, the five projects are expected to create 521 jobs and generate nearly $400 million in new capital investment in Iowa.

“The BIG program is delivering exactly what it was designed to do — helping companies invest, expand and create high-quality jobs across the state,” Governor Kim Reynolds said. “From pharmaceuticals and food production to aerospace materials and advanced manufacturing, these projects reflect the confidence companies have in Iowa’s workforce, business climate and long-term economic momentum. Iowa continues to prove that when government and industry work together, we can compete and win.”

For Milford and the surrounding area, the Rosenboom project represents a significant manufacturing investment at a time when many rural communities are working to keep and attract skilled industrial jobs.

Manufacturing remains a key part of Iowa’s economy, particularly in communities where employers tied to agriculture, transportation, equipment production and industrial supply chains support local payrolls and tax bases. Projects like the Rosenboom expansion can also create secondary benefits for local contractors, suppliers, trucking firms and service businesses.

The $25.54 qualifying wage attached to the project means the new jobs are expected to be well above many entry-level service-sector positions, adding a stronger payroll impact for the region.

Rosenboom’s expansion also reflects continued demand for precision manufacturing tied to equipment and heavy-use industries. Hydraulic cylinders and machined components are essential parts in machinery used across farming, construction, military and energy-related work, making the company part of a broader industrial supply chain.

The state’s BIG program is intended to support business expansion projects that create jobs and private investment in Iowa. In this case, the incentive award is tied to Rosenboom’s planned expansion, equipment installation and job creation in Milford.

The IEDA Board awarded Rosenboom $1,354,875 in tax credits for the project.
