GRAETTINGER, IOWA – Carol Grace Felkey, 81, of Graettinger, died peacefully on Friday, August 7, 2026.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 401 West Patterson Street in Graettinger. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Carol will be laid to rest at St. Paul’s of South Walnut Cemetery near Graettinger.
Carol was born August 19, 1944, to Thomas and Carrie Hansen Luitjens. She attended school in Graettinger before continuing her education at a secretarial school in Omaha, Nebraska.
She married Ronald Felkey on December 1, 1962. They raised four children and shared more than four decades of marriage before his death.
Carol held several jobs throughout her life, working as a bank secretary and teller, chiropractic office receptionist, jewelry store salesperson, SNC production worker and Wild Rose Casino cashier.
Her family remained the center of her life. She was the mother of David Felkey and his wife, Donna; Rhonda Shafer; Roxanne Kerr and her husband, Jeff; and Thomas Felkey and his wife, Lynn. She was also a proud grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of six.
Carol belonged to Bethel Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards and gathering with her family. She also appreciated the fun and companionship she found during trips to the casino.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ronald.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions to the Graettinger American Legion.
