Kevin was born on November 13, 1965, in Estelline, South Dakota, to Kenneth Lee Hoftiezer and Ruth Ann Kasdorf Rasmussen. He attended Ivanhoe Public School, completing his high school education.

On February 19, 1994, Kevin married Janet Pruisman Hoftiezer at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Rockwell, Iowa.

Kevin spent much of his working life in the food service industry, where he was known for his home-style cooking and for teaching others how to cook. Kevin’s work ethic and determination were hallmarks of his life, and he overcame many challenges with resilience and humor.

Kevin enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies and pastimes. He loved attending tractor pulls and fairs, collecting model cars and beer steins, and playing BINGO and the lottery thanks to Ruthie. He enjoyed driving around to sightsee and spending time with his nieces and nephews, who were a special part of his life. His beloved companion Tippy was always by his side.

He was a dedicated member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, whether attending in person or watching services on TV. Kevin was known for his warmth and friendliness. He loved to talk, call, and message anyone, anytime, anywhere. He had a sense of humor and enjoyed sharing his home-style cooking with others.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Janet Hoftiezer of Mason City; his mother and step-father, Ruth and Gayle Rasmussen; his sisters, Dianne (Jim) Weckert and Wendy (Dan) Klein; nieces and nephews Krista Flom, Kelli Flom, Josh (Jocelyn) Klein, Marcus (Teana Schoenfelder) Klein, and Becca (Ahmed) Saada; and many extended family members and friends.
