Mason City police identify suspect in shooting case; warn he is “armed and dangerous”

MASON CITY - Mason City police today identified a suspect in a Monday night shooting case that left a man hospitalized and warned that the alleged perpetrator is "armed and dangerous."

MASON CITY – Mason City police today identified a suspect in a Monday night shooting case that left a man hospitalized and warned that the alleged perpetrator is “armed and dangerous.”

As reported earlier today, at approximately 7:55 pm on Monday, November 28, 2022, the Mason City Police Department was called to the 300 block of 3rd Street NW for an altercation. Several callers reported subjects fighting and a report of a gunshot was also received. Officers arrived on the scene and found a male who had been the victim of gunfire. The male was transported to MercyOne North Iowa by Mason City Fire Department paramedics.

During the investigation of this incident, Stephen Allen Tidemanson, age 24, of Mason City, has been identified as the shooting suspect. Tidemanson is currently at-large and considered armed and dangerous. He left the shooting scene with the firearm after disarming the shooting victim. Tidemanson is currently wanted on two warrants, charging Theft in the First Degree – a class C felony and Attempted Murder – a class B felony. Anyone with information about Tidemanson’s whereabouts is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency.

UPDATE: Tiedmanson was taken into custody in the 300 block of 1st Street SW at approximately 1:50 p.m. Tuesday.  Police say the firearm was also recovered at that time.
