OBIT: Thomas William Coonradt

Thomas William Coonradt, age 76, passed away on Friday, March 6th, in Clear Lake, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 11,2026, at 11:00 AM at the Hoff Celebrations-Champion Chapel in Osage.

Thomas William Coonradt, age 76, passed away on Friday, March 6th, in Clear Lake, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 11,2026, at 11:00 AM at the Hoff Celebrations-Champion Chapel in Osage with Martha Chancellor officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation for friends and family will be one hour prior to the service.

Tom was born January 30, 1950, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Dean and Mildred (Bucknam) Coonradt. Tom began his education in the Old Library Basement on Main Street for Handicap Kids. Later he went to the Osage School for Special Education and then to Comprehensive Systems in Charles City, Elma and Osage. In 1980, he became a resident at Opportunity Village (One Vision) in Clear Lake, where he lived for 46 years. During his time in Clear Lake he lived at several different apartments, with and without roommates and became a fixture in the downtown Clear Lake area. Tom worked at the North Iowa Vocational Center in Mason City, where he retired in 2012.

He then volunteered at the Village Store, Zion Church, and the Chamber of Commerce. Tom was a lifelong Iowa Hawkeye fan and loved to watch many different sports.

Tom is survived by his sister Jo (Bob) Stearns and brother Bill (Marilyn) Coonradt of Osage, Iowa, his niece Sara (Levi) Befort of Pine Island, Minn., step-nephew Michael (Kristen) Stearns of Sheboygan, Wisc., step-nephew Chris (Candius) Stearns of Sterling Heights, Mich., great-nieces Lanie, Maddie and Olivia Befort of Pine Island, Minn., step-great niece Jenna (Michael) Copeland of Arlington, Texas, step-great niece Anna Stearns of Salt Lake City, Utah, step-great nephews Michael Stearns of Houston, Texas and Steven Stearns of Fort Worth, Texas and Sam and David Stearns of Sterling Heights, Mich.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Dean and Mildred Coonradt, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family would like to thank the staff at Vision One for their support and kind care over the last 46 years and also the staff at St Croix Hospice for their care during Tom’s final days.
