Ricky Mahnesmith, 61, of Mason City, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2026, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center.
In accordance with Ricky’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time.
Ricky was born on June 18, 1964, in Mason City, to Loren and Beverly (Eikenberry) Mahnesmith. He was raised in Mason City and graduated from high school there, remaining closely connected to the community throughout his life.
Rick was someone who found joy in simple, meaningful things. He loved spending time with his family and friends, whether it was sharing stories, lending a helping hand, or just enjoying each other’s company. He had a love of fishing and could often be found near the water when he had the chance. He also enjoyed working on cars and took pride in figuring out how things worked and keeping them running.
Rick had a playful spirit and never quite outgrew the thrill of riding his bicycle, often showing off by popping wheelies whenever he could. He loved a good cup of coffee and could usually be found with one in hand. Above all, he enjoyed making people laugh. His sense of humor and lighthearted nature brought smiles to those around him and will be dearly missed. Music was another steady companion in his life, and he especially enjoyed listening to Taylor Swift.
He is survived by his daughter, Amber Morehead; his son, Jason Wilson; his niece, Shelby Mahnesmith; and his siblings, Lynette (Duwayne) Paulsen, and Randy (Michelle) Mahnesmith; as well as many grandchildren, numerous extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Bev Mahnesmith; and his brothers, Loren Mahnesmith and Robin Mahnesmith.
