Kelsi Soenen, age 32 of Emmetsburg, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Palo Alto County Health System in Emmetsburg. Funeral Services for Kelsi will be 10:30 AM on Friday, February 13, at Grace Church in Emmetsburg. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsburg. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 12, at Martin Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. Services have been entrusted to Martin Mattice Funeral Home of Emmetsburg.

Kelsi Michelle Soenen, the daughter of Terry and Peggy (Blatchford) Meyers, was born on May 18, 1993 in Storm Lake, Iowa. She graduated from Alta High School in 2011. Kelsi worked as a customer service representative for Farm Credit in Emmetsburg. On September 13, 2025, Kelsi was united in marriage to Chase Soenen at Highland Hills Hideout in Emmetsburg.

Kelsi loved cheering on her daughter, Karsyn, at gymnastics and wrestling events and was always one of her biggest supporters. She enjoyed the outdoors and especially treasured time spent with her dad, burning ditches and splitting wood. Some of her favorite moments were spent with Chase along the river, taking side-by-side rides together, putting their feet in the sandbar, and listening to music in the fur shack.

More than anything, Kelsi cherished time with her two beautiful daughters and her family. Her greatest happiness came from being with Chase and their girls, and her daughters will forever carry her love, laughter, and memory in their hearts. She had a gift for making people laugh and was always up for a good time, even jokingly known for running a little late. Kelsi had a witty personality, and if you texted her, she would often respond by correcting your spelling before replying to your message. She was also known for her love of cows and was proud of becoming a thriving farmer, starting with four chickens and happily expanding her herd to ten.

Left to cherish Kelsi’s memory are her husband, Chase Soenen of Emmetsburg; daughters, Karsyn Meyers and Maisyn Soenen; parents, Terry and Peggy Meyers of Alta; sisters, Katie (Bryan) Schrieber of Emmetsburg and Kily (Collin) Johnson of Aurelia; grandmother, Virginia “Ginger” Blatchford of Alta; mother-in-law, Della Coleman of Emmetsburg; father-in-law, Ronald Soenen of Emmetsburg; sister-in-law, Crystal (Pete) Menage of Algona; and brother-in-law, Kane (Ann) Soenen of Elk Point, SD.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Trudie (Ken) Nord; grandfathers, Dewey Blatchford and Art Meyers; and Tim & Ty Meyers and Todd Blatchford.
