Arthur “Art” Vaclav Bina, age 82, of Cresco, IA, passed away at Evans Memorial Home in Cresco, on Thursday, July 17, 2025, after a 4 year long hard-fought battle of doing dialysis.
Art was born on October 20th, 1942, in Winneshiek County to Charles and Helen (Marchek) Bina. Art was united in marriage to Beverly “Bev” Boeke on January 30th, 1960. They lived life, truly, as partners, completely inseparable. Whether they were traveling near or far, or polka dancing through life, they were always having a good time. To this union, 5 children were born.
Art was active with the Holy Cross Church until it closed. He took pride in being involved with the Schley Cemetery until his death. Art was subsequently active in the Holy Trinity Parish, where he enjoyed being a lector at Mass. He attended church frequently to pray for family, in fact, he made up for the time everyone else missed.
Farming played a major role in Art’s life; he made a lifelong commitment to the land he loved. He spent time milking and cultivating on the farm. Through his experience and genetics, he attained a love for Allis Chalmers tractors and toys.
His many talents also included a fondness for music. He played the organ at Holy Cross Church and took up the accordion as a pastime. Art was a pillar in the community taking part in Drift Runners, the Mighty Howard County Fair Board, selling seed corn and Archer Oil, slow pitch softball coach, 4-H leader, and various church boards. On Saturday night, you could find them at the Schley Store.
Art never knew a stranger and always offered encouragement, advice, and praise to those he loved; left to honor those memories are his wife and rock Bev, his children, Shirley (Rodney) Williams, Patty (Milan) Mohn, Jerry (Lisa) Bina, and Becky Dunn (Kenny Dotzler), 6 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, 2 sisters-in-law, and a brother and sister-in-law.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Helen Bina, his wife’s parents Vern and Dorothy Boeke, his infant son, his brother Ray Bina, a son-in-law Jim Dunn, a great-granddaughter Cora Sobolik, and a brother-in-law Jim Daly.
