Carol Mae Loring, daughter of Ryan and Carrie (Juhl) Hoffmeyer, was born May 18, 1936 in Estherville, Iowa. She received her education in the Estherville school system, graduating from Estherville High School in 1954.
On August 6, 1954 Carol was united in marriage to Raymond “Ray” Loring in Emmetsburg, Iowa. They were blessed with six children.
Carol was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, caring for her family. She later went to work at the Emmetsburg Care Center when her youngest child was in 6th grade. She served as the Activity Director at the Care Center until her retirement.
Carol was a faithful member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Emmetsburg.
Carol was a talented piano player and did beautiful embroidery work. She enjoyed going boating, riding her bicycle and playing golf. She especially loved being with her children and grandchildren.
Carol passed away Monday, July 14, 2025 at the Emmetsburg Care Center at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ryan and Carrie Hoffmeyer; her husband, Ray Loring; sons and daughters-in-law Stephen and Cindi Loring and Craig and Ann Loring; her brother, Donald Hoffmeyer; a great grandson, Cole Loring; and a great granddaughter, Halas Guinn.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Mike) Guinn of Hartley, Iowa, Sheryl (Melinda Talbot) Loring of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Diane (Tony) Putnam of Everly, Iowa, and Kayleen (Scott) Farmer of Estherville, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Kari Sanculi, Kyle Loring, Jason Guinn, Heather Stewart, Chad Guinn, Courtney Soenen, Brett Moore, Kyle Farmer and Samantha Lois; thirteen great grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.
