Leslie Gene Bleich, the son of Herman and Pauline (Sankey) Bleich, was born on June 19, 1959, in Algona, Iowa. Les graduated from Humboldt High School with the class of 1978. On March 30, 1985, Les was united into marriage with Teresa Ford in Fort Dodge, Iowa. After being employed in the Co-op industry for 34 years, Les retired in November 2023. After retirement, Les became employed by his grandkids as “Papa Daycare”.
Les never met a stranger on the street and always had some smart aleck comment for you. Les was always willing to lend a helping hand, take a phone call or just be the guy to talk to. It was rare that you had a conversation without him talking about cattle or his grandkids.
His wealth of music knowledge was unmatched and could always beat you in music trivia. Les always said, “there’s a song for everything.”
From milking dairy cows growing up to showing breed cattle at county fair and state fair with his kids, Les was very active in the cattle industry. He never missed a Humboldt County Fair. Les was a 4-H leader and member of the Humboldt County 4-H Foundation. He enjoyed being a mentor in the show barn and watching young ones succeed in the show ring. Les loved meeting new friends at cattle shows and continuing conversations with old friends he had known for years. He had spent a lot of time trying to dial in the genetics of his herd and always enjoyed making bull selections every year. Les was looking forward to calving this year (new calves come in a week).
Left to cherish Les’ memory are his wife of 39 years, Teresa of Humboldt; children: Christopher Davis of Des Moines, Michael (Jessica) Bleich of Humboldt and Jacqueline (Jordan) Imler of Humboldt; grandchildren: Kody, Charlie, Sophia, Keira, Vera, Evelyn, and Joey; brother: Curtis (Kay) Green of Amarillo, Texas; father-in-law: John (Carolyn) Ford of Humboldt; mother-in-law: Eileen Ford of Humboldt; sisters-in-law: Sandy (Mark) Slaikeu of Eagan, Minnesota and Annette (Dennis) Schmidt of Eagan, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews
Les was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Ronald Bleich and sister-in-law: Debby Green.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be directed to the family.
