Robert Mark Shunkwiler, 78, of Mason City, Iowa, passed away January 12, 2025 at his home.
Per his wishes, no services will be held.
Robert was born December 15, 1946 in Mason City, the son of Cecil and Elsie (Baldoff) Shunkwiler. He graduated from Mason City High School and work took him away from his hometown. He worked on a boat in Alaska for a number of years and spent over a decade in Seattle working as a bartender. In 2005 he moved back to Mason City to be closer to his mother, whom he shared a close knit bond with. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching sports on TV as well as attending a few games in person when the opportunity arose. Robert was known for his excellent memory. He always remembered birthdays and anniversaries; always generous with the gifts he gave to commemorate these occasions.
Those left to honor his memory are his siblings, Dean Shunkwiler, Wanda Wood, Elsie Wilson, Glen (Rita) Shunkwiler, Paul Shunkwiler, and Jerry Shunkwiler; as well as his two dear friends Jodi Miller and Vickie Eustice.
Preceding him in death are his parents; three siblings prior to his birth; and sisters, Dorothy Shunkwiler and Anna May Northrup.
