CLEAR LAKE – NorthIowaToday.com received word Tuesday evening that two well-known national retail stores were on the way to Clear Lake.
A source indicated that Hy-Vee plans to build a store on the city’s north side about a half-mile west of the I-35 and Highway 122 intersection. The same source indicated that a Pilot Flying J gas station/truck stop was planning to build at the northeast corner of that intersection.
However, when reached for comment Wednesday morning, Clear Lake City Administrator Scott Flory said the developments at this time are “just a rumor.”
NorthIowaToday.com contacted the Hy-Vee media relations department and asked about any potential plans to build a store in Clear Lake.
“We wouldn’t announce that at this time even if it was true,” said Ruth Comer, Director of Hy-Vee Media Relations, Wednesday morning. “We are always looking to expand, all over the midwest.”
A call to Pilot Flying J corporate offices went unanswered.
More on this situation as information becomes available.
