JASPER COUNTY, IOWA – An Iowa woman is facing a dozen felonies after authorities got wise to her allegedly fraudulent use of county funds.
On June 26., 2024, The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office was requested by the Jasper County Attorney to conduct a criminal investigation on an employee of the Jasper County Community Development Department. An internal investigation determined misuse of county funds.
As a result of this investigation, 31-year-old Shelby Hobbs of Newton was arrested on July 10, 2024, on the following charges:
– Theft in the first-degree – Class C felony
– Forgery (11 counts) – Class D felony
The investigation revealed that approximately $17,458.41 was utilized for unauthorized expenses. Hobbs was placed in the Jasper County Jail.
