MASON CITY – A basement fire at a Mason City house chased the resident out into the yard as firefighters deal with the blaze.
On May 12, 2024, at approximately 11:42 PM, the Mason City Fire Department was dispatched for smoke inside of a house at 123 Winnebago Way. Fire crews arrived and found the resident outside and smoke coming from the house. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the basement, with smoke and heat damage throughout the house.
The fire cause was electrical and accidental in nature.
Emergency crews cleared the scene at approximately 2:42 AM. Investigation was completed the next morning.
No injuries were reported.
