This season, the Panthers grabbed two honors with juniors Grace Boffeli and Maya McDermott earning All-MVC First Team recognition. This is Boffeli’s third All-Conference honor after a First Team nod last season and an Honorable Mention appearance two seasons ago. For McDermott, this is the second time the guard has appeared on an All-Conference list after a Second Team season last year as well as earning the MVC’s Most Improved Player honor..

A junior forward from Eldridge, Iowa, Grace Boffeli finished the regular season with a team-high 204 rebounds and a per-game average of 8.9. Her 8.9 rebounds per game is the second-highest mark in the Valley. Boffeli finished the regular season with 850 career rebounds which is third on UNI’s all-time rebounds charts and leaves her 32 shy of the no. 2 spot. Boffeli recorded 11 double-doubles this regular season, the second most of any MVC athlete, in her 23 starts for the Panthers. She is now just six double-doubles from tying UNI’s top spot for career double-doubles. Boffeli averaged 15.3 points per game this season, the second-most on the Panther squad and eighth-most in the conference.

A junior guard from Johnston, Iowa, Maya McDermott led the Panther offense in the regular season with 15.9 points per game, the sixth-best mark in the Valley. McDermott led both the conference and the nation from the free throw line with a 96.1% free throw percentage. She was a perfect 39-of-39 from the stripe inside the McLeod Center and shot 53-of-54 (98.1%) in conference play. McDermott also leads the MVC in assist-to-turnover ratio with 2.55 assists per turnover. She recorded nine contests with 20+ points this season.

The Panthers are back in action on Friday in the quarterfinal matchup of Hoops in the Heartland and will take on the winner of Thursday’s matchup featuring Evansville and Illinois State.
