David Harold Tempus, 68, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 18, 2023 in his Nora Springs, Iowa home.
Family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
Dave was born in Independence, Iowa, the son of Lyle and Anna Sevilla (Martin) Tempus. He grew up in Aurora, Iowa. Dave graduated in East Buchanan High School Class of 1973, he then attended Iowa State University. Throughout his entire life he was a farmer beginning his career self employed and eventually working for other farms such as Dirck, Marshall, and Miller. Dave also maintained a position at Dohrn Transfer Company from 2007 to 2021.
On December 9, 1978 he married Sue Short and together they had two children, Marcella and Brandon. After Sue’s passing he was able to find love and married Kathy Jo Sovers on March 21, 1998. Dave enjoyed being a family man, he really loved being able to spend time with his children and grandchildren.
Those left to cherish memories of Dave are his children, Marcy (Mike Jondal) Tempus, Brandon (Jessica) Tempus; and Cory (Meg) Sovers; grandchildren, Devon and Conner Frankovich, Gentry and Orrin Sovers, Riley, Parker, and Carson Tempus; sister, Peg (Roy) Angle, Don (Mary Anne) Tempus, Chuck (Lois) Tempus, and Doug (Joyce) Tempus; numerous nieces and nephews and his special feline companion, Smokey.
Dave is preceded in death by his first love Sue Short-Tempus; as well as his second love, Kathy Jo Sovers-Tempus; both of his parents; and his brothers, Paul and Jerry.
