Plymouth man dead in head-on crash in Worth county

RURAL WORTH COUNTY – A Plymouth man is dead in a head-on crash in Worth county Thursday morning.

The Iowa State Patrol says a crash occurred Thursday, April 29, 2021 at about 4:57 AM, at 3472 Orchid Avenue outside Manly, in Worth county. A 2016 Kia Soul driven by 28-year-old Scott Andrew James Caron of Plymouth, Iowa, was northbound on Highway 65 at that location as a 2015 Toyota Tundra driven by 59-year-old Michael David McCoid of Manly approached, southbound. The patrol says that for unknown reasons, Caron’s Soul crossed the center line and collided with the Tundra head-on.

As a result of the crash, Caron was killed. McCoid was injured and was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Mason City.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted in the incident by Worth County Sheriffs Office, Manly Fire Department And First Responders, Mason City EMS, and Mercy Air Med.
